【SMM Stainless Steel Market】Automakers Warn EU: CBAM Implementation by Jan 1, 2026 "Practically Impossible"

The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) has warned the EU Commission that a "proper implementation" of the CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) by its January 1, 2026 start date is "practically impossible." ACEA stated that "far too many critical unknowns" remain, including missing legal provisions, calculation data (benchmarks/defaults), and a certified verifier network, making it impossible for companies to perform mandatory cost calculations.
